Jack Hyles

Friends of the Jack Hyles Web Site

Jack Hyles used to often say that none of his material was copyrighted and his desire was for his material to have as wide a circulation as possible. We would like to be part of fulfilling that wish. So, a group of volunteers have taken on the project of putting all of Jack Hyles writings and many of his audio sermons online. We need your help! We need typists, scanners, proof-readers, web experts, and supporters to meet this lofty goal. Please see the list below for things that still need to be done and decide how you would like to help.

Things to do:

Join the mailing list:

First, please join our mailing list. This is an e-mail discussion group that is used to coordinate the project. It is not a place for discussion of theological issues or debate over the ministry of Jack Hyles. It is focused on the task of placing Hyles material online.

To subscribe Send an e-mail to imailsrv@jackhyles.net with
"subscribe volunteers your_name" (without the quotes) in the body of the e-mail.

Type or Scan a Book:

We have a complete list of all Jack Hyles' books on the book page. Some books are complete, others are in various stages of progress, and some have not yet been assigned to anyone. The books that do not have a link associated with them need to be typed or scanned. If you would like to take on one of the books, please e-mail me and let me know which book you would like to do. You don't need to commit yourself to an entire book, right at first. If you would like to start with just a chapter, that would be great. Every little bit helps.

For the sake of consistency and to answer frequently asked questions regarding typing and/or scanning books, I've put together a list of General Typing/Processing Guidelines to help

Proof-read a book:

When a book has been scanned and run through an OCR (optical character recognition) process, we like to have a human eye check for mistakes. Sometimes the computer recognizes an "rn" as a "m" and a "h" as a "b" etc. Also, some formatting usually has to be done. These small things need to be corrected before we place the book online. See the book list page for "books in progress," or "incomplete." You will need your own personal hard copy of the book to compare. Please let me know what book you would like to do. I will be scanning more books in the near future.

Encode Audio sermons into real audio format:

One of the most common requests of the site is for more audio sermons. If you have sermons on tape that we, or Ken Christensen, do not already have, and you are equipped to encode them into real audio format, we would love your help. Basically, all you need is a sermon tape, a computer with a sound-card, a tape player that you can connect to your sound-card in the back of your computer, and the free RealProducer Basic from Real Networks.
